A Wild Beauty.
The Story behind Koliba beM
Koliba is the Montenegrin term for chalet or cottage, beM our idea to provide a unique experience at this wonderful place for like-minded people. beM stands for "beIngMarvelous beyondMainstream".
When looking for our annual summer holiday home, we came across Montenegro, because that should give it all up: kite surfing for my older son and me, diving for my younger son, relaxing for my wife, nature and a little bit of culture as a supporting program. Not more, not less. And our friends Anna and Jürgen (also see: house #2 the "Birdhouse") should be with us, as well. So off to the Balkans in a small country called Montenegro with about 600,000 mostly very hospitable inhabitants and touristic even less developed than the Mediterranean countries further north. Also a bit wilder and more original. For us as water sports enthusiasts and lovers, it should of course also be an accommodation right on the water and close to the kite spots. So after some research Ada Bojana was found.

Once there, it was about love at first sight: a river fed by the 40 km distant nature reserve of the Skadar Lake and flowing into the south of Montenegro directly on the border with Albania into the Mediterranean Sea. A unique place with huts or houses that "sit" directly on the water. Fresh water and salt water in sight and feeling, just around the corner of the 12 km long sandy beach "Long Beach" without the usual sardine can-like "beach development" as you can find in the meantime in most parts of the Mediterranean. In addition stable thermal winds, which are blowing daily from June to September. Last but not least: nice restaurants with fresh fish and other food, as well as the proximity to the former pirate stronghold, the city Ulcinj. And not far away the mountains in the hinterland for hiking and cycling. In short: the perfect spot for athletes and people who love nature in a place that has not lost its originality.
Experience the Balkans and its people in Montenegro. It should also be noted that the infrastructure is not (yet) a Central European one and that in the evenings during the high season there can be half an hour of power outage every now and then. But since we are also equipped with gas and candles, this makes the evening just more romantic. Also, the waste disposal system does not meet Central European standards but rather corresponds to the one in southern Italy.
